On our last day in London, we sat down and enjoyed breakfast before checking out and grabbing our bags to catch an Uber ride to the St Pancras Train Station to board our train to Paris. As luck would have it, there was a bike ride that day and a majority of the streets in the city were closed. We didn’t know where the closures were, so we called an Uber from our hotel and got on, only to be told he doesn’t know how to get around the traffic along with other cab drivers that were there. So we grab our bags and run through the event to the other side and caught a cab as it drove by. We made it to our train with only 5 minutes to spare. After we settled in on the Eurostar train, it was an awesome experience to be able to travel to a different country via train in a little over 2 hours. When we arrived at the train station in Paris we called Uber and went straight to St. German to check into our hotel. One thing to note, when visiting Paris is that there were lots of unofficial taxi drivers trying to give you a ride and charging triple the amount. Luckily Uber was available in Paris so we didn’t have any issues getting to our destination without being scammed by the driver.
After we checked into our hotel we unpacked and went to explore Paris. We started out with a nice long walk from St. German neighborhood towards the Eiffel Tower. This took us most of our first day in Paris. As we walked towards the Eiffel Tower we stopped to enjoy tasty crepes and gelatos and explored the amazing architecture along the way. When we got to the Eiffel Tower we were impressed with how many people were relaxing on the lawn by the tower, drinking wine and just taking in the incredible view.
The next day we woke up early and enjoyed tasty French croissants for breakfast before going on to explore more of Paris. We walked to see the Norte Dame Cathedral and waited two hours in line to get to the top of the tower. The cathedral was absolutely incredible; it makes the top of my favorite things I’ve seen in Europe. The views of Paris from the tower were just breathtaking.
Afterwards we walked toward the Louvre Museum and went inside to see some of the famous exhibits. The museum was huge and it could easily take an entire day, or longer, to see everything there. After busy day of exploring we ended the evening with a bottle of wine watching the beautiful sunset by the Eiffel Tower.
We absolutely loved visiting Paris. The city has so much history, beautiful architecture, and of course their food is amazing. We couldn’t get enough of quiches, croissants, crepes and amazing gelatos. We definitely gained a few pounds in Paris :).
Stay tuned for part three, Poland coming very soon!!
