A few weeks ago we did an editorial photo shoot with Pam from Precious Creations Boutique. Pam is so creative and she makes beautiful party favors and gifts for weddings and other events. We loved working with Pam and are inspired by her work, so today we are featuring a mini interview with her.
What inspired you to start your business?
There are two things in life that I am passionate about: helping others and crafts. I’ve always loved creating and designing pretty things. Instead of purchasing gifts for people, I make them something. One of the best feelings in the world is seeing the way a person’s face and eyes light up when they open a handmade gift that you personalized just for them. Friends and family always ask me to help them plan or create things for their parties & events. One day it dawned in me… Why not start a business doing what I love?? And I love all things mini, so making little favors is a plus!
Where do you look for inspiration?
My family, boyfriend, friends and fellow local vendors are my inspiration. My boyfriend, friends & family give me support and feedback I need (both positive & negative) when I come up with new ideas/creations. My friends who are also in the industry play a big role in my life as well. When I look at them and all they have achieved, it reminds me that anything is possible with hard work and determination. They give me hope and new-found confidence.
And on the days I find myself faced with a creative block, I turn to my Young Living Essential Oils. I diffuse my favorite creativity oil blend, play soft relaxing music and let the creative brain juices flow. Before I know it, I have a little list of new creations that are waiting to be put together
What is your favorite color combination?
I have a few favorites. I think Tiffany blue, silver/white with accents of pink would be at the top of the list. Then it would be a toss-up between khaki/white/light pink and anything rustic
What is the most unique party favor that you have made?
The most unique favor I have made so far was for one of the sweetest couples I know, who had a fishing themed destination wedding on a beach. The groom has a love for fishing and the bride is one of the most low maintenance, down to Earth people you could ever meet and I wanted to create something that would match both of their personalities. It had to be something that incorporated fishing, the beach, had a tropical feel to it but wasn’t too flashy. I ended up creating a heart-shaped magnet which had an ocean background with their names, date, a mini fishing lure and it said, “Love Caught Our Hearts”
What are all of the creative props that you make?
I create and design a wide range of items: favors for all types of parties/events, invites, diaper cakes & creations, customized nursery frames & name plaques
Any advice for anyone planning a wedding or event?
My advice for anyone planning a wedding would be to create a time line, decide on a budget and stick to them. Also, trying to plan a whole wedding by yourself will be stressful & overwhelming. It’s ok to ask for help. Wedding planners are a good investment as they might save you a few anxiety attacks and grey hairs!
