For those of you who don’t know, my husband and I are both Polish. Ever since our wedding we have been planning a trip to Poland, but something always came up and we kept putting it off. Early this summer we were invited to two weddings that happened to be in the same month and a week apart from one another. We took this opportunity and finally made our way to Poland. During our visit we attended two weddings, visited family and friends, and toured the country from the Baltic Sea to the Tatry Mountains. We have seen more of the country in those two weeks than we ever did living there as children. Although we came back extremely exhausted, this has been one of the greatest experiences and vacations ever.
Gdańsk, one of the largest cities in Poland located on the Baltic coast.
St. Mary’s Church in Gdańsk. One of the largest European Brick Gothic buildings.
Westerplatte, a place where the Second World War started.
Sopot Pier on the Baltic Sea.
Grudziadz, the city that I come from.
Jasna Gora in Czestochowa.
Tarnow, the city that hubby comes from.
Wawel Castle in Krakow. I absolutely loved touring the castle it was so cool to see such a historic location.
Zakopane. Walking to see Morskie Oko in Tatry Mountains.
Morskie Oko in Tatry Mountains.
We decided to hike around Morskie Oko, and then found this awesome trail that leads to Czarny Staw (another beautiful pond much higher in the mountains). This hike was very intense; it was basically hiking straight up a mountain. When we reached the top the views were some of the most amazing views I have ever seen. So worth the effort!
Czarny Staw with a little bit of snow left in the middle.
Few hours before flying back home we spent the evening in Warsaw touring this beautiful city.
We couldn’t be happier to have had the opportunity to travel to Poland and spend time with our family and friends. Poland is a beautiful country and we cannot wait to go back!!
